The Hideaway at Royalton Riviera Cancun Reviews

Excellent time, wonderful hotel
We visited this hotel April 16-23, my hubby, and 3 sons (17, 14, 8). The hotel is wonderful and will only get more so one time the grounds matures. Check in took a tiny longer than regular however we were lucky enough to be upgraded to a Presidential room with swim out so totally worth the additional time. I know this will not always happen but the suites were charming and roomy. Meals were good, more than likely some of the most amazing we have every had at all inclusive hotels. Pools were charming and outstanding recliners. The largest let down was the shore because of the extreme amount of kelp. Really unfortunate however they do try and clean it daily. If the oceanfront is essential to you, this May not be the setting for you. The stage for the nightly performances was okay, however challenging for everybody to view as it was level with spectators and there was really little seating other than on the walls. May be an area to look into. There were a few small problems however nothing that detracted from our holiday. The climate was amazing, great beverages, great cuisine and charming hotel. The personnel were diligent and attempted to please. Yes, language can be a problem however you get that in any Country where you do not talk their native language. Liked how close it was to the airport so no Long coach ride. We all had an amazing time!

Marvelous hotel!
Just got back from an amazing vacation in this hotel! The resort is aesthetically wonderful and unbelievably spotless and well taken care of. The suites are high-end and roomy. For the girls the hair dryers in the suites are salon quality really powerful which comes in useful in the Tropical heat. The washrooms are fabulous with double rain showers and big hot tub baths. The suites were tidied to a really high standard two times daily with a turn down service. The swimming pool areas are charming with pleasant huts and recliners, with server service. There are multiple wonderful restaurants all serving tasty great quality cuisine in charming atmosphere. The selection of beverages is incredible you can truly ask for anythings and they will make it for you, with great quality brands (grey goose and so on). The personnel could not be anymore courteous and supportive. We wound up spending a fortune on tips just since they were so pleasant and smoooth however we were hardly ever made to feel that we needed to leave gratuities. The selection and quality of the cuisine in the main cafeteria restaurant was amazing and a ton of it was cooked in front of you. Anticipate to wait an hour or so for a table in majority of the restaurants except the cafeteria. This really isn't a problem as Long as you know this beforehand. They take your booking request and give you a buzzer, you can then go for a drink and so on and they will buzz when your table is ready. The bars were really Chic and stylish the main portion of the resort where majority of the restaurants and bars were situated had a vacation town feel to it, which took away the feeling that you were stuck in a hotel. A few down sides are that the oceanfront is not that scenic, Due to disproportionate kelp. The resort attempt to manage this by trying to clear it every day however it just appeared like they were fighting a loosing battle with it. Check in and out appeared to take a far too Long a process. Unsure why this is?! The recliner position. Seriously you gotta keep two towels from the previous day and get up at 5 AM to get a hut or loungers with umbrellas. On two occasions we honestly witnessed folks fighting over them. Maybe the resort should intervene with some sort of policy to stop this. I'd suggest staying at the Hideaway if you favour no kids resorts. As a whole an amazing and really wonderful hotel with marvelous personnel! I think the photos on here and the professional photographs on several Travel sites talk a thousand words!
Excellent vacation
Just got back from 10 nights at the resort reserved with first selection As a whole an excellent time. Suite really charming, excellent shower, really pleasant large, large Bed with excellent cushions. After not being too happy with our original suite setting we were provided a suite in building 7 facing the Splash pool with partial ocean view from the patio. (this only took about 20 minutes or so to achieve). Building 7 really useful for everything. The resort basically is spotlessly spotless really contemporary and appealing. Beverages top drawer. Bar service and beverages service round the swimming pools awesome Cafeteria awesome selection and different seating areas determined by the environment you wanted we tended to sit outdoors or in the outer areas as they were lighter and brighter and less busy. The specialty restaurants were great and the longest we waited was about 30 minutes when you were provided a pager and you just went to the bar for a pre supper drink and the pager let you know when your table was ready. We often went down about 8. 15. Service in the cafeteria and the other restaurants was actually okay, no issues. We did tip personnel since they worked diligently and appeared honestly satisfied to supply you. All the personnel we came across were excellent. Shore really pleasant however as has been said water and kelp not so great however we knew this coast line has problems with this. My only Real gripe is the tanning bed problems with most of them taken really early. The swimming pool personnel were always supportive in finding some to put with each other and get a parasol however I still had to get up earlier than I'd have wished. The resort should also bargain better prices for cabs since they were really costly if you wished to leave the resort. If you have the opportunity go down to the martini bar when the four tenors are singing they were fabulous.

Excellent holiday!
Everything was excellent! The cuisine personnel amusement! I have travelled on several occasions and this is the hotel to stay. Anywhere from family to Couples in the no-kids. Always something to do! Absolutely recommend:)
Finest college week ever
Inspired by our vacation to Royalton in Dominican last year, we went to their Mayan riviera resort with four other families. We're so happy that we did, it was honestly even better than last year. The hotel is situated only 15 minutes Drive from the airport which is great, and you can effortlessly get into to the town centre Cancun, even though if you prefer to walk near the ocean there are no other resorts around it. We were spoiled from start to finish, and were taken care of by a multitude of personnel its unfair to single anybody out. The meals were the greatest part of the hotel, something for everybody and most certainly at or above standards you would get in ottawa at an okay restaurant. Our favorite was zen for the ordinary menu even though we did also do the teppanyaki there. The steak house now and again had a small line up, however as we do not eat until after 8 US ually we hardly ever had any issue getting served anywhere. The cafeteria was the most awesome we have ever seen, options galore, even a full gluten free variety and oriental food things at brunch, nothing wasn't thought out. I should mention the guac too, finest ever!, however then so was the gelato (about 12 selections and genuine) and the tropical fruit juices. Suites are really contemporary and packed with facilities, an excellent view out to the sea. Free wireless internet great quick and free calls to Canada. Allthough it is a large hotel, its really spread out with a large ocean front and it never feels busy, only the Central part throughout the evening performance felt a little bit vegasy, otherwise you would never think you were in a 1000 suites resort. Only small down sides were 1; the shore atmosphere was spoiled by kelp. Supposedly its the whole length of the Maya and the gang from the hotel attempted to keep it cleared. You could always find a clear spot somewhere to swim, just not perhaps right in front of your lounger. The upside was more folks sat at pools and as were shore folks it gave us many shade and lounger choices and free reign at the bar on the ocean. And 2; one lunch the server completely screwed up our order, and then wanted to start again and accurate it, so it took almost 90 minutes to get cuisine. Barely a crisis just laughed it off and just proved that this resort was only 99. 9% pristine not 100%. I have no idea what folks writing unfavourable scenes anticipated, paid, or how they have to Live to not find roylaton Riviera Cancun awesome. We are going to be back.

Awesome experience
My fiancé and I spent one week here, April 7-14. We reserved it really last second! It had not even shown up in any search results. We took a look at the photos, and we are pretty thrilled with the appearance of it, and also most of the testimonials. We had such a marvelous holiday! A few of the high points. 1. It's a brand new hotel. The resort landscaping and suites are stellar! Spotless 2. You don't need bookings for the specialty restaurants! You can go to them each and every day! For brunch and supper. We visited the Hideaway, which is the no-kids area. There is a restaurant, the Dorado, exclusive to that area. We had brunch there as well. It's really pleasant to not have limitations as to only having the ability to go 3 or 4 times. The only thing you gotta reserve is a table at zen for the tepenyaki tables. We ate at zen two times for the ordinary supper. The meals are awesome! Every restaurant is excellent! 3. The staff attention. The hospitality was amazing! I can't say enough about it! There is always someone checking with you to make sure everything is alright. The serving personnel, awesome! 4. Friday night, at the Hideaway, they had a chocolate party! It was paradise! As a whole, this was one of my finest Travel experiences! I have been to the Mayan 4 times including this last time. This was by a mile the greatest! The only con was the shore! There was so much kelp! However. It's like that from Cancun, all the way down to guatamala! They had a cool snap this winter that killed a ton of the plant life along the coral reef. So it's washing up all of it. There were guys shovelling it all day, putting in onto a small tractor to be taken away. We had friends at the Princess the same week, ant it was as terrible or worse there. Do not get a Garden view suite, request a sea, or partial sea view suite! Or you will be looking onto a mangrove field! Majority of the suites have at least a partial sea view. Also, they have free wireless internet throughout the entire hotel! Even near the ocean ;) I'd definitely suggest this resort! We're returning next year for our wedding!

Awesome hotel!
We travelled with one other family, so 4 adults and 5 children (ages 2-8). The hotel is wonderful. The children Splash pad is awesome; they had fun on the water slides. The advantages: we had the attendant service; alto was quite accommodating and arranged our suppers. The meals were excellent, service was excellent. I loved how they had some amusement in the form of entertainers before the formal amusement happened. That was great for the children. They had stand up paddle boards and pedal boats, which were tonnes of fun! They had many loungers which is also essential so you had some shade. The cons: we arrived late and didn't get a pleasant welcome. No cool towel, no welcome drink and we did not know that we could check in at a special area with our attendant service. Some renovation work still happening, however not really a major deal. Idea: the children playground area is only open until 8 PM and they do not supply supper to the children. The cafeteria opens at 6 PM, so it's pretty difficult to have an adults supper with those time constraints.

Amazing hotel, some problems
We visited the Royalton and were thrilled instantly by the size and quality of the suites, and the floor plan of the resort. Big pools all over, bars and restaurants galore, and the high-gloss granite, steel and glass renovation made it all look really contemporary and top notch. Furniture is beautiful all over, a lot of loungers and quality recliners at the shore, and even two-person hammocks with shade (just need to get up early if you would like the prime spots). Same goes for dining, if you arrive early, you get the greatest tables, no waiting. We heard bad feedback from a lot of guests and, just for fun, inquired around 8 PM what the wait time was at the hunter steak house. Over an hour. We went late one night for supper at the pizza and pasta place and were offered a table in 40 minutes, so we went to the cafeteria for wine and a starter and salad, returned just in time to walk right in and be seated. Check in and out was fast and simple, flights and resort transfers with sunwing were efficient, timeshare pitch was refused politely and left at that. Your results May vary. We heard otherwise from other tourists. The shore. Just as terrible as you have heard, I could see this being a dealbreaker for some folks. The cuisine. Presentation was okay, restaurants were chic, and the cafeteria was gigantic and differed, however. We Live in a small community in northern ontario and we have some restaurants here that would blow the doors off anything I ate there. Each to their own. You May find it awesome. Always food to eat, we had paella near the ocean on Sunday (which was tasty), then found hamburgers, tacos and chicken at the swim up bar later. Move around, you will find some excellent spots to eat, drink, and hang out. The personnel were marvelous, service was basically awesome. Our accomodations were serviced everyday, and extra towels two times a day, your experience May vary. We got into one cranky server. We attempted to be too lovely with personnel and a lot of responded similarly. You get what you give, I believe. We saw more adults having tantrums than children misbehaving. Being exhausted, starving and drunk tends to make some folks grumpy. Amusement. Excellent! We discovered the entertainers to be excellent. Even superior to the main acts in most cases. An electric cellist, an excellent harpist, a funky reggae band, an okay blues band, and four tenors with one man that should be on trip. He had a stellar voice. A mike Angel class road magician that left a lot of people with mouths gaping. A fire performance near the ocean. We thought the amusement was differed and worth going to see nearly nighly. Go early for finest chairs, or you will sit on a concrete ledge. Bring a sweater to pillow your fanny. Always something on throughout the day. Great yoga master. Excellent zumba classes. Children amusement. Bingo, trivia, name that song, and so on. We got everyday activities sheets tucked in our door. If you go Hideaway, eat at the Dorado. Awesome scenery of the sea. We ate there a few times just for the view alone. Main pool is the party place, the Hideaway is more mellow, even though it got unruly at the swim up bar in the afternoon, and the Splash Park was more for children and families. Saw one mosquito. Deplorable little thing. Ours are the size of hummingbirds in comparison to the mexican version. They do bite, though. All top quality liquor, you can ask for anything you enjoy and they will likely have it. Mixed beverages differed in quality, however, hey, just order another one, or change bar staff. Bottled water all over. The orange juice, for me, was the most memorable part of the morning. Great fresh! Go with an open mind and a smile, and you will be genuinely amazed. Temper your anticipations and you will adore it. Lots of great reasons to be here, particularly the warmth of the Sun. We came back to subzero temps. You will be upset to leave, I guarantee it. Hope you love your holiday, wherever you go!

Excellent holiday, and excellent hotel,
The Royalton is a marvelous new contemporary hotel. It is big, however not a mega hotel like some that have right next properties attached that you can Travel between. It is also mostly not too far from the airport, about a 20 to 25 minute bus lift. I was just there with my family, my spouse, 2 of my sons (19, 24), and one of my sons girlfriends (18). We were there from April 20th-25th. I will attempt to give an in depth review for those of you that May be interested in this Property, so this will be pretty Long. First let me address the shore and the kelp problems. I have read a lot of testimonials that have criticized them for poor setting selection, and amount of kelp there. The kelp isn't a Royalton problem, it is a problem most hotels are facing in that area from Cancun to as far south as Tulum. We went on some tours that were close to riviera Maya, and there was just as much kelp there. We inquired some of the folks there and they said it is all over, and could last as Long as a year. So enough of the bashing the Royalton for having kelp, they do the greatest they can to get rid of it, however sincerely it is an ongoing battle. As I told in the opening the hotel is big however mostly simple to get around. In past testimonials folks told some of the dangers or hazards of walking around this hotel. Yes, there are steps and areas where it is a must to pay attention. Some of the tile in the washroom areas can be really slick when they're wet. The hotel does have cones or lettering to caution you in some areas however not in all of them. All I can say is that if you go to a new place that you aren't familiar with, then just pay attention to where you are walking or going. Folks also talked of the renovation throughout the resort, at the very most they're doing repairs. There is such a thing as settling in new renovation, particularly in concrete, and this hotel has a ton of it. They do an amazing job in trying to repair it, and keep up the wonderful appearance of this hotel. We had two suites, both jr. Rooms on the second level that were in the Hideaway area. (no-kids) they were on the back side of the Property that face the margrove, or swamp area behind the hotel. Yes its not the greatest view, and if you would like a better view they do have them for an upgrade. Overall pool and some sea, however few. We did not pick to upgrade to the Diamond Club or a better suite with a scenery. Sincerely the view did not bother us in the least. We were not in our suite truly unless it was to tidy up before supper or rest. The suite was quite neat and the mattress was really pleasant. The double rain shower was fantastic. Joseua (sp) the girl who tidied our accomodations were excellent, it was serviced daily with no problem. We didn't tip her, except for several dollars until the really end. So leaving gratuities was not a bribe early to get our suite tidied. The meals were great to excellent. We have been to other hotels and sincerely the cuisine is not excellent at any of them. We have only stayed at one hotel that we felt it was excellent, and that was the eldorado Royal, a karisma Property. The cafeteria is great, however some if few of the options are warm at the very most. All of the carving or prepared cuisine stations, the meals are hot. Just a tip for folks who like egg omelets, get your omelette first then get the rest of your cuisine, if not the pre-made cuisine will get cool, the omelette stay pretty hot. Hunters, the steak grill restaurant was the greatest specialty restaurant we ate at. We arrived around 7, and had a 20 to 25 minute wait. I know that the wait times have been a problem for some visitors, however its no different then if you were to go out to eat where ever you May Live. Some posts told how there were empty tables after they walked in after waiting for a while. This is something we did not see, however I can not say that I saw every table. Now as far as the cuisine goes the steaks and sides were beyond our expectations, with the steaks being a little over cooked. Zen the sushi bar was alright. If you have been to benihana or something comparable, zen is not as great. We also ate at Dorado (Hideaway restaurant), armadillo (tex mex), the shore barbecue, and the main TV bar, all had great cuisine. As far as the beverages and alcohol goes the Royalton has an excellent variety. The amusement particularly in the main area around the swimming pool at night was awesome. We really liked the main pool and the Hideaway pool, and the shore was really pleasant, other than the kelp. Yes folks do get up really early to get a spot at the swimming pool or the shore, again this happens at most hotels. All I can say is, is that it is first come, first supply. Yes it is a pain that some folks reserve spots and do not performance for hours, however if its just towels and you ask one of the personnel, majority of the time they would give you the spot. The swimming pools are losing many tiles, however again something I saw them working on. The only thing I feel they really could improve on is have more umbrellas available, there are certainly not enough shade areas at both the swimming pools and the shore. I wished to save the staff attention and the personnel for last. From the moment we arrived until the minute we left, everybody was courteous and gave us excellent service. Upon arrival, one of the Hideaway hosts indicated to us where everything was, and made certain we were all set with whatever we needed. Let me also address the holiday package or presentation that they push for you to go to. You get this at nearly every hotel, particularly if it is a new one. Yes, they're really persistent, and you will more than likely get inquired if you have been to, or if you are going to it. So either politely refuse, or go to it. Its another way on how they make there money. We did tip, however both my wifey and I being former waiters and bar staff, it is ingrained in our dna to do it. The employees at these hotels do not get paid much, and most if not all of them bust their butts to service us. Not one time did I feel they were waiting on us more attentively since we were leaving gratuities them. As a whole this is an excellent new hotel, with some minimal growing pains, and areas for enhancement. I would surely come back to this hotel, or perhaps even try one of the royaltons other hotels that they have.

Vacations are to create lasting Memories - my family took home a boat load!
Was really concerned prior to our vacation about the terrible reviews coming out. I have all great to say. Yes there were some missing pool tiles, yes there were a few glitches however as a whole a striving for complete perfection was in the environment. We liked our stay. We selected the Diamond Club and are so happy we did. The extent of service we got from marcos, our attendant, michael and elizabeth at the swimming pool, and Diego at welcoming was teriffic. My children want to know if we can invite them to our Lake house for our week there since it just will not be the same without them! Our family travels 3 or 4 times a year and sporadically do we think about returning. Not since they're all terrible experiences however since we always relish new ones! I guarantee you we are going to be back at the Royalton.
